It didn't work for Sutter because the roster isn't built for that, we don't have big guys that can stand there and screen the goalie, we have smaller skilled players. It was idiotic to to go back to that well yet Huska did until I think players just tuned him out once Zary and Pospisil came up. Now I see a bunch of guys just doing their own thing out there, no system at all. Like I said, it's fine while young guys develop their craft but you are going to need a guy who actually knows what the hell they are doing once the team is ready to compete. The other thing about Huska is he is soft as warm butter, he doesn't get mad at the officials, he doesn't get mad at the players, he just takes it all. I think he imposed the same system as Sutter while being the nice guy and the players like him but it has become the inmates running the asylum now.
No disrespect, but I gotta disagree. I think Huska has allowed players to be much more creative than Sutter’s “high volume of shots” system. From the start of the year, the boys have looked ready to play in just about every game, and we’ve been in every game. I thought they would come out of the gate and fall flat on their faces, looking absolutely lost like they did last year. To me, they look like they’re all pulling in the same direction. Still too many defensive mistakes, but if we had a true game-breaker, we would be in a playoff spot.
