Its so obvious what the issue is.
Marky was making big time saves last night to keep us in the game, and has been the only reason we are in the race.

It’s so weird too. Goalies that are on a run like Markstrom is rarely ever get traded mid-season. It’s very rare to have a simple fix to your biggest problem just available. Especially when your team has an abundance of young players and has been picking high in the draft for years. There is no player available in the trade market that could have a bigger impact on any team than Markstrom could for the devils right now.
Take the flames. For the first 5-6 years of the last competitive window, the flames were constantly looking for a solution to their goaltending (until they got Markstrom). I can’t think of any point in that time where a top five goalie in the league was available for trade in the middle of the season. Imagine if, at the time the flames were struggling along with different goalies year after year, someone like Vasilevskiy or Rinne was made available. It’s an obvious move and for Jersey to make the decision to just keep allowing goaltending to be their weakness is foolish with the roster they have entering their competitive window. There are plenty of teams that never reached their potential because they never committed to addressing their goaltending problems.
