To your second point, no, I think most people will look at the carnage and blame Israel (especially those living in the Middle East). Interesting how the Saudi-Israel deal was abandoned shortly after October 7. Another win for Iran. Just wait until they obtain nukes.

I suspect in a year or two when for everyone but Gazans this will be just history those that hate Israel will still hate them, those that support Israel will still support them but the vast majority of the world will just add this to the chronology of the conflict, I have no doubt Saudi Arabia will wait a bit and then move back towards signing the deal, I think we tend to over estimate the long term effects of these conflicts, the horror and outrage tend to be temporary, Israel knows this and so are operating on an 'in for a penny in for a pound' level, frankly the more damage to Gaza's infrastructure they do the better for them at this point, it makes no difference to the backlash they face but will make Gaza a lousy place to live for decades, people will get out of their if they can and thats a win for Israel
