Interesting phrasing.

I grew up in a similar environment to Kuzmenko, and I more than understand where he stands on the issue. Hockey is for everyone, that's not the issue. A person has the right to love whomever he/she wants and be open about it, or change his/her body however he/she wants.
I grew up in a small town in Central Alberta. One weekend while I was in Grade 11 (year 2001), the senior high-schoolers arranged a f**-hunt, where they loaded into 4 different trucks and spent 2 days cruising around and drinking looking for people in our town and surrounding communities who they suspected were gay. They had golf clubs, baseball bats, hockey sticks, and a whole lot of beer.

My best friend disappeared for a week with what she said was an illness. It wasn't until she came out to me 3 years after we graduated that I understood why she wasn't at school for 10 days.

Yes, it's different now, but let's not pretend that people like you, me, and Kuzmenko haven't had the opportunity to learn and grow despite our backgrounds.

I can't support the politics. For example, on an issue like letting children undergo gender transition treatment. Unfortunately, it all gets grouped into one, and if I'm against it, then I'm, supposedly, against the whole group.
For all those whinging about posters like me, here's where the trans children argument started.

Look, I don't think you're fundamentally against it, and I don't think you're a bigot, because I don't know you at all. I just don't think you really understand the issue if this is what's got you all hung-up. Since people continuously want to shout me down then I'm not going to say much more than gender-fluidity and reassignment is so far more gray than being for and against it, and it's something that is entirely between someone and their doctors.

Still excited about the trade, though. This is a big W for the Flames.
