Timing and acquisitional cost play a very big role in if teams will want this particular Lindholm.
Any team not looking like a play-off team.
Any team happy with their center depth.
Any team not looking to give up organization depth for a short term chance.
Any team that is only looking for players who have control.
Any team that doesn't have the cap flexibility to make it happen.
Any team that thinks they'll just be able to circle back and get him as a UFA for no asset costs.

And of these teams, which of them is going to give up the deal the Flames are looking for? Again, this is my point. You have a team who seems to be ready to make the deal. They are meeting your ask. Do you balk because it's at the lower end of your ask? If you just want to wait to see if something better comes, how long do you wait?

He has a season where he has played below his previous high levels and an eagreness to test UFA. That brings your cost down.

Fridge said Tampa taking a year to recoup or something to that effect on a 32 thoughts Podcoast a few weeks ago. They started the season slow with out Vasilevski and have put themselves in a hole and have sort of resigned themselves to that..
