No. It should not normally do that, but it's possible you're sensitive to something in the fermentation process of ripe pu-erh?
Also my grandma told me never drink too strong ripe pu-erh. It can be bad for stomach lining. If you can't see a reddish tinge or see through the tea, consider diluting it down. You can drink it dark like dark coffee, but doing so long term might not be good for you. No idea on the science of why though.

It’s how “pu-ehr” is pronounced that had me wondering about its flatulent properties.
