A single point in this stage of the season is pretty unprecedented. But I can appreciate and respect how they went into this rebuild. They saw the writing on the wall years ago and have been prepping their fanbase, ownership and sponsors of the looming rebuild. They have done a solid job executing it from a PR standpoint and you won't find a Sharks' fan anywhere who has any kind of expectation of success for the next few seasons. Just suck as much as possible and accumulate without any quick-fix signings on the roster.
Selling off Karlsson after winning the Norris was especially masterful. Get a 1st rounder and they can easily flip Hoffman and Granlund at the deadline for a haul. Imagine for once in my lifetime the Flames selling high on a player who just had a season like that. Unfathomable around here. As for Hoffman and Grandlun, doesn't matter they are both having brutal seasons. All Doug Wilson has to do is say "Look how bad our team is, these guys will flourish on a good team!".
Just ride that rebuild for the next few years without a pressure in the world, and they will still be a highly sought after destination when they are ready to contend. I'm jealous of them TBH.
