A warmer than normal winter's ahead

Quote:
Albertans can expect a warmer rest of fall and winter with an El Niņo on the way.

According to Justin Shelley, a weather preparedness meteorologist with Environment and Climate Change Canada, the last El Niņo happened back in 2016.

"Usually, the impacts are most felt during the winter months here so in that December to February period," he said.

He said the El Niņo is characterized as warmer than normal temperatures down along the Pacific Ocean along the equator.

As we await its arrival, we can expect to hit the mid 20s this long weekend.
