They had pre built the NHL squad and AHL squad and it was determined prior to camp that the AHL group would get some games and cut right away, Sutter pretty much said so.
It also goes back to pre Sutter and bringing up junk like Grossman who even got a contract and humiliated by Edmonton in game 1.
This is a lot different and feels different. Huska has even made the comment some players in camp show more in games as opposed to practice and its really hard for anyone to say someone had a bad camp when no one was allowed to watch camp outside preseason games.
Its a refreshing change.

Not much has changed though. Coronato has yet to play with NHL vets.
The Grossman contract is widely misunderstood. He took a contract for a specific amount of dollars to help the Flames gain more LTIR space later in the season.
But for sure Conroy has not littered camp with PTOs which is a nice change.
Just pointing out that deployment so far hasn't really changed.
