My dad still shocks me with his old man strength despite his age related deterioration. Can still lift some serious weight when the task calls for it. I don't know where it comes from considering he's given up a lot of his activities and sports.
The condition is it must be manual labor or yard work where DIY-ing can save calling a service in to do it. He'll summon superhuman strength just to avoid calling the professionals to his place.
