It's all in good fun to revel in a "stupid moment" at someone else's expense, it's just less fun when that someone else is you.

What I don't get is why you're defending PP for behaving the exact same way he has taken Trudeau and other government officials to task for in the past. PP used to be the one who was a tenacious attack dog on getting real answers out of people instead of letting them deflect on a technicality (the WE scandal is one instance I remember particularly well), and now he's doing pretty much exactly that. He might as well have pulled a white chip macadamia cookie out of his coat pocket and said "I'm not done eating my cookie".

The reporter's question is: Are you trying to court the far-right vote?

The preamble of "A number of your own comments and actions have been characterized as dog-whistling to the far-right" may be why the question is being asked, but it does not invalidate the question any more than if the preamble was "I hear your favourite flavour of ice cream is rocky road", nor is the question any less valid if the journalist asking the question cannot immediately recite however many examples of other people saying so is needed so as to satisfy PP's imaginary threshold for not qualifying as "another left-wing CBC smear job".

"Are you trying to court the far-right vote?" is a question that stands on its own and is a yes/no/maybe question. PP's little 'gotcha' moment makes him look every bit as unlikeable as the people he used to lampoon for doing the same thing.

It also doesn't matter if the specific term "dog-whistling" isn't used explicitly, since words have meanings and just because I say you're acting like an insufferable weenie who is excessively concerned with minor details doesn't mean PepsiFree can't say I just called you a "pedant", albeit in long-hand.
