Pretty solid contract for the Habs, still a RFA at the end of the deal. If he even becomes a consistent 40 point guy this is a good deal. Likelihood that a young player continues to improve is high.

Plus it gives the Habs all the incentive they need to give him big minutes as it will only provide them with a bargain contract if he flourishes.

Newhook will eventually cash out as well, so him giving the Habs a good reason to give him big minutes is good for both of them.
