This is the disadvantage hitting canadian markets. These players are prepared to hit the market with preferred destinations in mind, that are generally known, so it's hard to extract great value.

Should be evident by now that Canadian GMs are playing with fire trading for American stars on short contracts. And GMs in general need to recognize that players are increasingly exercising leverage to choose where they play. The NHL is changing, and team braintrusts need to adapt to the new reality.
