Assuming four lanes:

If I'm in Lane 3, my lanes of concern are 2 & 4, and I don't particularly give a crap what the guy in Lane 1 is doing. If he begins moving into Lane 2, I'll see him because my mirrors are set to see him in either my side view, rear view, or in my peripheral vision. YMMV vehicle by vehicle, but for every car and SUV I've owned including both my current car and current SUV, it works flawlessly. Just normal peasant mirror glass too, no Euro-spec convex mirrors.

Slava owns either an SUV or a car (based on him asking for advice in the Automotive thread), so unless you're being passed by a Peel P50 while driving an F350 with the wing mirrors off a '61 E-Type Jag, I'm pretty safe in my assumptions here.
Well, my overall issue isn't just that people are unseen there...it's that people insist on driving there. Maybe you don't consider it a blind spot, and that's fine, but why would people drive there?!

Anyway, not sure why this discussion is in the AB politics thread either.
