We're slightly better because we have mountains...

I live in northern California in the Bay Area (not San Fran).
Anyone.....i mean 100% ANYONE....from here who has been to my home town comes back here raving. Folks here effing love visiting Calgary. They say: So clean. Beautiful mountains. People are AMAZINGLY nice. Restaurants are great. Skiing? Awesome. Hockey tournaments? So cool. It is common here to have 2nd homes in Tahoe, Idaho, Montana, and/or Napa/Sonoma which are nice too. Only mentioning this because these compliments about Calgary are made in light of knowing other nice places.
But...no one...i mean literally NO ONE has ever said anything nice about Edmonton. Ever. Or anything at all actually.
I do think it is tough for Americans to live in Canada (all kinds of different reasons). Calgary does suck in the winter (testicle receding type cold). And visiting is different than living.
But it is an amazing city. I wouldn't let anyone tell you differently.
