Not sure if this has been mentioned but hanifin played for Sabres coach Don Granato at the ntdp. Speaks highly of him in the below article from 2015 (says he could be a Duncan Keith type d). As sabres need that d (and were identified as a potential trade partner previously), probably some smoke here.
