Hiring a guy who didn't have winning seasons in 3/4 seasons in the minors because he needed a better team is not how you go about achieving the above.

Letting the inmates run the asylum would not be a great start for Conroy. Hire the hotshot 2x ahl best coach. Put your trust in the guy that oversaw .700 teams through most of his career. It's the best internal bet.
I don't see any strong argument that tells me huska would do a better job. He's done great with the defensive side and PK. Let the guy continue working his strengths. This team needs to score more goals. I don't think your defensive mastermind with no history of winning as a HC is going to help there.

I would lose a lot of respect for Conroy if he genuinely thought this group, even with Lindholm and Hanifin extended, was in a window.
You’re not going to get an established coach to burn his last chance with this roster.
You will get a guy who wants an opportunity to do more with less.
