Southampton will be back eventually, they have good infrastructure and a solid youth system. I don't think they have the support or population base for a prolonged period in the top half of the EPL table but they'll be competitive for the championship title regularly. Some teams like Blackpool, Bournemouth, etc have such thin infrastructure/support and you can see that they could end up being a league one team in the long run if or when they go down but Southampton will be there fencing with those other yo-yo clubs like Watford, Birmingham, Cardiff, Sheffield etc on OK footing.
It is a bit shocking that Forest and Bournemouth outperformed them but I thought that they got nervous during a bad patch and bailed on Hasenhuttl too soon, he was perfect for their team and set up and would have stuck with them in the Champ.
