The team had basically 3 top 5 picks.
They drafted and developed well and if we were a US market would have 3-4 all stars, depth, and trophy candidates in ages between 25-29. Short of a Connor 649 ticket that's as good as it gets.
They had it, but could not keep it. Different problem.

Monahan had his career basically ended early by injuries
A lot of bad luck and bad geography at play there. CSEC doesn't help themselves either by keeping a decrepit old arena instead of building a new one.
