I think the Netflix show did humanize the cult somewhat without sugarcoating how weird it was that all the dudes let Koresh #### their wives. It also did kind of show how unnecessary attacking the compound was.
I took a New Religious Movements course in university and the Branch Davidians thing had just happened so we studied it a fair amount at the time. My religious studies prof was pretty upset they wouldn't let a religious studies scholar help defuse the situation. I don't know if I super agree with treating everyone's delusions with unlimited patience and resources, but it would have probably led to a more humane ending.
My take is nobody is a god (obviously) and anybody who thinks humans can be gods are pretty ignorant/dumb/rubes/dupes/dopes/you-name-it. I can see why law enforcement had enough of his #### and stormed in. Act like complete and total morons and those guys outside with tanks and guns are gonna #### you up, you tit. Still sad people died.
