For the most part, I think it comes down to good players and good teams making their own luck. I bet other teams have just as many slightly missed chances and posts but they make enough other plays to make up for the ones that didn't work out.
How many goals against have nothing to do with the other team getting puck luck but instead are caused by boneheaded plays and bad goaltending?

It's a crutch if you just exclaim "we're unlucky!" without looking into whether you are or not.
There are a lot of stats that have traditionally reverted to the mean historically that just haven't for Calgary this year.
Great teams can beat xGF% splits and poor teams can come up short, but once you're outside a certain band it gets less and less likely to continue and when it does ... just not your year.
