My personal opinion is that Trudeau knew of the interference and influence was decided to sell his soul in exchange for another spin as PM.
He's doubling down.
The only reason to do that is because he's trying to hide something.
It would be the easiest thing in the world to say 'oh #### I screwed up, didn't realize how bad the influence is, yo Chinese MP dude you're gone, and lets have an inquiry.'
