Don’t kid yourself. A scorched earth rebuild is unlikely to fill that ‘void’ you’re feeling. If it does, I doubt that satisfaction lasts for long.
Make no mistake, if the Flames were to rebuild it’s likely the same group of fans clamouring loudly for it will be incessantly complaining about who they picked in the draft or how certain players were developed or who they hired as a coach etc etc…they would also complain loudly if the Flames weren’t cup contenders within three-four years.
It’s easy to take this stance. I’m not suggesting the Flames should be saved from criticism, but it’s foolish to expect them to do something, scrotched earth rebuild, when they have never done that, ever, in their history.
