Someone that has never even touched a gun before can get instruction in a couple hours on how to be safe with a gun.
If we're being pedantic then the sparks wouldn't matter as the fuel would have long been rendered inert after sitting in a barrel for 20 years. Also makes the battery issue moot, but sometimes you just have to put physics aside and enjoy the show
