Sheldon Souray in Edmonton is an obvious one where the team tried to force him to play, but I'm sure other people have plenty of examples where players played too soon before they were ready. It's not like being "ready to play" is a black and white issue. Ten doctors can disagree when someone is ready to play, and often a player and team can choose the doctor with the opinion they like most.

Not season starting injury, but we just saw the NFL do it with Tua Tagovailoa. It's a very common issue

OK but you responded to my post where I said it's hard to believe the Flames would force a core piece to play this early in a season against medical advice.

You said it happens all the time.

Then you say you don't think they forced him.

I think players say they're fine when they're not all the time for sure. But that's not on the team as much as looking the other way and putting players in danger.
