Looking a day later and yes, the youth looks far more tolerable. A slightly smaller (and more like the original size) C, and the hem lines at the actual bottom hem of the jersey make all the design difference rather then dead space under the stripes and everything else jammed into the upper 2/3 of the jersey.
The men's version is designed for someone who is wearing high waisted jeans and is tucking the jersey in, but still wants all stripes to show. Sure maybe that's how the original was too, but following the design rules to a t is not the goal here.
With a larger C and compacted area it looks even more visually displeasing than the already set of stripes that was picked off the cutting room floor and tacked and jammed on diagonally like a puzzle.peice out of place.
