Taking calls with “line name suggestions”, “hot take for the year” and suggestions for good pizza is not good radio, listener polls are not good radio, it is hack radio. There was very little discussion about last nights game this morning. Yesterday Rusic explaining buying a toaster was a terrible listen. They are a morning talk show, not morning entertainment.

I actually attribute the listener polls and contests for tickets as a response to Barn Burner. It forces engagement in the moment as opposed to a listen on a podcast later. 960 has three advantages over Barn Burner: it's live radio, they have budget/capacity to get better guests, and they have access to the Flames and yet they are reacting to an upstart podcast by their former morning show personalities who they clearly could have retained had they tried (boomer, pinder & Rhett can't be making much money out of it but yet they still do a show a day, so clearly there was probably a path to keep them at 960.)
