Sure, I get that. Where I saw this person nearly get smoked by a car is the opposite. It was busy (morning rush hour), plenty of cars and transit buses to activate the signal, and it has a short signal cycle in off-peak hours. It's about the worst place to be cheating things. It also has terrible visibility to the crossing road so even in off-peak hours I'd be nervous about trying it.
