The fact that arbitration is on the table. Tkachuk can refuse to negotiate between now and the arbitration date, basically accepting what the arbiter awards and going to free agency. What he does get to hear is the Flames run him into the ground to try and get the arbiter go with their number. Nothing good can come from going to arbitration, but the Flames are pushing for it anyways. I'm curious how many players who go to arbitration end up signing with their team long-term?
