Next summer: Lucic, Monahan come off which is 11.6M right there from players you likely are done with.
The summer after is more interesting because you have Lindholm, Hanifin, Tanev, Zadorov, Backlund, Toffoli all ending, worth over 30M in total. Now some of those you probably want back (Lindholm, Hanifin, and perhaps Tanev/Backlund on cheaper deals).
Don't do anything this year, a season which you are not going to win the cup, that undermines that optionality going forward.
I agree with this, but would like to see some big kicks to go along with it. There are a few teams which are just horrible at developing prospects (I'm looking at you NYI) and I wonder if picking up a disgraced first rounder or two, and letting them learn in a superior system would pay dividends in the following year or two.

To use the NYI example, they haven't completely destroyed RW Simon Holmstrom yet. 2019 23rd overall. If they are dead set on having 5 or 6 tweeners bouncing back and forth from Cal-Stockton (all of the UFA signings thus far), why not make it interesting?
