You owning a gun doesn’t change whether or not a random person can enter your home and assault you with a gun, nor does it make it any more or less likely to occur. It might in the case of targeted hits if you were in a gang or something, but I’m guessing that is probably not the case.

Agreed it won’t make a difference if you aren’t home and someone breaks in. I can guarantee that it would make a difference if I was home and heard someone breaking in though. Staring down the barrel of a double barrel shot gun is going to get anybody’s ass in gear to GTFO.
