It could happen, but I think there is mutual interest in a long term deal. The only question is, is there mutual interest in a long term deal in Calgary.

But I think Chucky is aware he’s coming of his best season. There is risk his value lowers next year and not much chance it increases, so he’ll be motivated for term and dollars. The Flames won’t want to go in to the season with another Gaudreau risk and Chucky’s trade value is likely highest before season starts.

Point being, neither side likely want the QO signed at this point.
