Well let's see...
1) Go back to the draft or latest, pre trade deadline 2021 - Tre has leverage, Johnny's NTC hasn't kicked in and he has 1.5 years of term left. Tre doesn't give Johnny an ultimatum where he accepts a fair/good long term deal or face being shopped. Tre misses the best opportunity he has to maximize on an asset that will only diminish after that point.
2) If you accept that #1 was done in consult with ownership and based on Tre's view that he'd get done with Johnny (Bingo's view), it turns out Tre had no clue in reading the player/agent. Isn't that one of the central aspects of Tre's job?
3) Not only did Tre mis-read every aspect of the negotiation, his offer to Johnny was made public so, the org is further humiliated by a player taking $15MM less and not going home. Calgary as a destination for players/agents has to be at an all time low.
4) How would you have any confidence in Tre handling the Tkachuk contract situation now? Another asset that he's diminished, likely misread and put the club behind the eight-ball. You think other managers aren't seeing the blood in the water and circling Tre?
