I don't know about that. I don't fully buy into the whole maximizing assets and "it's a business" takes.
At the end of the day, this franchise treated Johnny really well and I really believe he thought hard about staying as a result of that. Treating your players - especially the ones you draft and develop - like they are purely assets to squeeze the most value out of is bad practice.
Vegas does that to their players - most publically with Fleury but also with guys like Tuch and Suzuki - and they are already getting a bad rep for that. I think it also affects players on ice, when they know their franchise just treats them as assets. I think it played at least a part in them missing the playoffs this year.
