Not having a enough talent on your team is also a team-killer, and it’s hard to acquire talent like Johnny. It’s far from certain that the contract would be a handcuff after 5 years. I’m not certain of what he’s worth but it’s a sum of a huge number of variables, and even some are beyond the team’s on-ice success.
