Disagree. No -player "should" take a discount. Gaudreau is doing exactly as he should be, looking out for himself.
It's a business, and a player needs to look after themselves first. You can't trust a pro sports team to have any sort of loyalty or do the right thing with a discount on a contract.

If a player does give a discount, there is no guarantee that savings would improve the club. They might just as easily waste it on a Neal.
