Not to turn this thread all political (too late I guess), but hasn't it been since day 1 of this war that the only way this stupid war stops and regime change happens is if the people of Russia themselves make it happen? I think we all know that NATO boots on the ground in Moscow is out of the question. Zelensky, Biden, most Western leaders, heck most of CP, has said that the only way regime change happens in that country is if the people that live there do something about it.
It's not going to be the poor minority soldiers or old Babushkas in Siberia enacting change. It's the elite in Moscow and SPB that will have the most effect, IF they get off their asses and do something about it. Yes a few have protested. But it's obviously not enough and seems to have died down.
I agree with CroFlames; OV has lost his legacy (in my own worthless opinion, at least) due to his continuing support for Putin. FFS his Instagram profile photo is STILL him with Putin. Say what you want about him being afraid or whatever. Fact is, he supports his Russian president and has constantly refused to speak out against him. Family in RU or not, he is an enabler. Sad since he was my favorite player up until a few months ago, and how his goal scoring record is just "meh" in my books.
There are obviously other factors at play, such as his parents being famous Russian athletes and I'm sure Putin being a hockey fan constantly has OV in his crosshairs. But if we are to accept that the Russian elite like OV has no say in the matter and are keeping quiet to protect themselves, then we must accept the fact that this world is now allowed to be held hostage to a madman with nukes and that's the way life on this planet will be for the rest of our existence
