I don’t disagree but it is - a least to me - very difficult to gauge how teams or players are playing round to round. The Vegas Montreal series last year is an example where most people thought Montreal would get run over but they were actually playing much better than people gave them credit for. So, I have trouble wondering if McDavid is going to be the same player last round as this round. As Bingo posted the Edmonton and LA were trading chances which plays into McDavid’s game and let’s him appear other worldly. I doubt Sutter will be happy trading chances with Edmonton. I suspect the game planning focuses on slowing him down.
My big questions for this series are whether Smith can keep up to Markstrom and whether Calgary can stay out of the penalty box. If Smith can’t keep up to Markstrom and the series is mostly 5 on 5 then I think the Oilers will have a tough time.
