Sure, but Riley didn’t come directly from Tech and, more importantly, arrived at OU as an offensive coordinator, not as the head coach. As I recall, Riley was essentially hand picked by Stoops to take over, and I doubt Castiglone (sp?) was going to disagree with Stoops.
As to who OU should go with?
Venables would work. He’s been at OU previously and has been part of a team that has won two titles. And he’d likely up OU’s defense to boot.
If you wanted someone who is currently a head coach, then I don’t think that there are any real options.
