Yeah, this series is focused around Burnham, the crew doesn't matter, they're pretty colorless, even in Tilley's big moment in crisis, it was like Michael will save us. And where they could have done something big with a Detmer or the other helmsperson or anything is put them into the pod to save the day. But I guess its back to the whole Michael is a bad captain because she's not willing to sacrifice the few to save the many. So we've seen very little character development in Michael and its always her as the focal point for any heroic scene.


The other side was the argument with the President was so goofy.



The third thing is its the second year in a row where we're dealing with a mass extinction spacial anomly type of scenario that just feels like the Burn but bigger. Its kind of boring at this point, they needed to break this up, there are a lot of things they could focus on in rebuilding the federation, I mean not all species are going to be happy with it. And for example where are the Borg in this.



I thought that there were some good moments in the episode but those moments aren't based around character or plot.

Personally I really liked the President's speech but for the opposite of it's intent - it put Burnham in her place. I know the viewers are supposed to think that the Prez was the antagonist and be on Team Michael all the way through but at every point I was like "She's absolutely right! Burnham is an awful captain".


That scene was actually pretty decent because it seemed like actual Trek. I could see Picard talking like this to Wesley or whomever.


What was awful was the scene where Michael suddenly decides to have a personal conversation ON OPEN COMM over whether the President was a politicking liar all while dodging some space crap, instead of say doing her job and waiting for a free moment.


I keep going into this show with an open mind, then I hear the awful dialog (like Detmer and the other one who's main purpose is to make unfunny snide remarks to each other) and the nonsensicle spinning camera shots, and just cry at how bad it is.

There are so many scientific explanations for what they keep seeing as Gravitational Lensing. Why don't they actually mention them?
