In the summer people thought Tarasenko was basically finished, and that Kyrou/Thomas would never be as good as Tkachuk.
All three of those players are currently outscoring Matty. Of course that could change.

Kyrou started hot last season too with 18 points in his first 21 games.
Finished the season with 17 points in his next 34 games.
I wouldn’t bank on him sustaining this production.
People took issue with the main piece in a Tkachuk trade being an oft injured 30 year old 2 seasons away from UFA that the Blues quite literally couldn’t even give away.
If the Flames decided to trade Tkachuk I think the majority of fans would rather them target future pieces (picks and prospects) instead of stop gap solutions.
Tkachuk is one of the Flames most valuable assets- if you’re moving him it better be for long term solutions.
