I hated how he drafted, but there should be no questions about how he evaluates talent at the NHL level, and targets players.
Anyhow, Jack Eichel, eh?

Sutter's major problem wasn't so much with who he brought in, but who he let go. Sutter had a bad habit of writing guys off and refusing to work with immature personalities. It's good to motivate people and not put up with BS, but as a GM you also need to make the most of your resources. It's this personality trait that led to the Phaneuf trade.
Sutter's UFA record was also deplorable. He did bring in a few great players, but also signed dozens of depth guys who were not of NHL quality. There was a constant revolving door in the bottom six. The current team has enough depth to keep Sutter from repeating those mistakes.
I think Sutter has actually matured a bit, and is taking a less hardline approach. I've noticed that when players make mistakes he doesn't staple them to the bench for inordinate amounts of time.
To get back on topic, Sutter + Eichel would be a great combo. Both have an expect everything from their teammates attitude.
