Pitch clocks and other things to speed up the game aren't bad per se, but I don't see them drawing in new fans. Baseball's problem is it's pretty much meaningless for 5/6 of the regular season, and then for maybe a couple teams its meaningful for the last 1/6. Postseason baseball is great, but regular season is just too tedious for anyone but the die hards. But the die hards have still made it an obscenely rich sport, it's just already peaked long ago and has legitimately no shot of getting back to what it was.

All sports have long-term problems with how much other entertainment is out there and that the younger generations don't care about sports like we did. Which is why I fully expect sports to go big time all-in on gambling, cause once your money is involved you are obviously going to care.

Yeah, you hit the nail on the head in all regards. I wonder how sports gate revenue will start dwindling if they allow virtual reality in the near future. If you can get the feel of the ball park by being nearly full immersed, why do you need to go to the game in person? That's why I think there will be a reluctance to allow it initially. But like you say, betting is going to be huge near term as it explodes.
