I believe he'd be happy to stay, but I'd also bet he's not willing to give any sort of discount. If the flames want him, they're going to have to pay full market value, whatever that is.
I feel that whenever fans say they want a player to sign a fair deal, they mean they want the player to sign one that's fair to the team and below what they could get as a UFA.
If they get a deal done, I'd guess 8 years, 8.5M per, with a NMC for the first 5 years, and a limited NTC clause for the last 3.
