It didn't really do it for me. It was really nice to look at; the skies, the oceans, the mountains, and the persian warriors were all stunning but as far as the story goes, it wasn't anything I haven't seen before. I didn't feel anywhere near the compassion for the Spartans as I did for Mel Gibson's men in Braveheart.
The Spartans also made it look too easy. It seemed like they were dominating a war in which they were ridiculously outnumbered. I didn't feel that "cheer for the underdog" feeling that you get when the hero faces extreme adversity.
I did like the Queen's story and its' resolve; I thought her character was the most refreshing in the movie. I also would have like to seen more of Xerxes too as he was more interesting than King Leonidas.
