I’m not too concerned about Gaudreau’s no trade. My guess is that he accepts a trade to a contender for 2 months since he picks his destination after that. He has been living out of a suitcase since arriving in Calgary so I don’t see that as a show stopper.

But I don’t see Flames being out of it at the deadline and I don’t see them trading Gaudreau if they are in the race. So he has a lot of leverage in this negotiation. Which is typically true of pending UFA’s. The Islanders survived losing Tavares for nothing.
