You might have a point if the moderators did indeed have to fact-check, however, as you yourself admit, the community has done that for them. What value are these lying posters contributing? Do you think this thread was made better by adding in a farrago of dangerous nonsense and incoherent mutterings?

Speaking only for myself, I can respect someone who has a diametrically opposed opinion to mine on a topic, so long as that opinion is argued in good faith and has fact to support it. The lunatic fringe, though, I do not respect, but they are also welcome to their viewpoint as well so long as they do not lie in an attempt to convince others of that opinion.
