I honestly don't know how Bennett will do in Florida over the long run. But I do know Calgary has been one of the worst coached teams in the NHL during Bennett's tenure, and that he was starting to look good under Sutter. His run didn't start when he got traded. He was already on a PPG pace over his last 6 games in Calgary, seemed happy under Sutter, and Sutter seemed to like him.
If the Flames didn't start the season with Ward and instead had a coach trying to capitalize on how Bennett had finished the previous season would he still be a Flame?
If Bennett falters in Florida we have our answer. But if he does well there will be rightfully a lot of second guessing on how he was handled in Calgary.
