The Flames shouldn't be looking to remove key players from their roster. They're trying to add to it. With that said, salary cap and all of that - so Monahan or Backlund may have to be involved, but it's likely they're heading elsewhere and not to Buffalo.

Oh yeah, Monahan isn't worthless.

They could absolutely flip Monahan, but I doubt he'd waive his NTC to go to Buffalo so any time spent in Buffalo would likely be a paper transaction.

Have to think that if Calgary is going to acquire Eichel, it's going to be based around futures. Picks and prospects are going to be the key pieces, and perhaps someone like Monahan from a flipping perspective for more picks and/or prospects.
