I just don’t see the NTC as that big a deal. If you’re trading Gaudreau, does the other team see him as a rental or someone they can re-sign? If you’re looking to make a deal with him as a centerpiece, I would have expected that at the draft already when most deals take place. So that window has essentially passed and with UFA’s signing tomorrow, and if you’re just looking into moving him now, well shame on you for procrastinating. It’s not the NTC causing the problem at that point.
If he is moved at the deadline as a rental, which I’d say is the only remaining plausible trade scenario, how likely is it Gaudreau blocks a deal to a contender?
